Horror movies plus knitting equals

Reflection hat

Hello, my name is Barb, and I'm addicted to colorwork. Yesterday I mentioned that I won the Reflection Hat pattern from a contest on the Cosymakes blog. And today I have a finished hat! Thank you, Turner Classic Movies.

Finally, FINALLY, I have my very own pretty hat for walking Sukey on cold days. I do have a couple of floppy old Meathead hats that I usually throw on my head, but I think this one will clearly identify me as the proud possessor of a beautiful hat, rather than someone who simply did not bother to brush their hair in the morning. I love it--do you love it? If you have been very good this year, Santa (Santa Barbara--haha!) might bring you a lovely handmade hat like this for Christmas. Make sure you tell me your favorite colors soon. If you want to try your hand at knitting the Reflection Hat, click over to Cosymakes and purchase the pattern. Only $5!!! That's a real bargain if you're like me because I can already tell that I will be making this hat many, many times.

Here are the gory details for those of you who knit. This hat is size Medium. I used bamboo No. 8 double pointed needles. The main color is Lion Bran Wool-Ease worsted weight in colorway #099 Fisherman, and the contrast color is Caron Simply Soft Paints in colorway #0004 Spring Brook. One skein of each. I paid $6.50 plus tax for the yarn at Jo-Anns. Nowhere near as luxurious or hand crafted as the recommended yarns, but it still turned out pretty, and it's keeping my ears warm while I type this. And I might have enough yarn left to make a second hat. How's that for knitting on a budget!

Edited to add: By the way, check out Cosy's shop full of gorgeous handknits and her other shop full of original patterns, hand dyed wool, hand spun yarn, and other yummy stuff for cool weather. :)

that's a beautiful hat Barb. And since I know you have lots of curls hidden under it, I like it even better. I never wear a hat because I've never found one that I think looks right on my head with all my poofy curly hair under it.

Robb makes fun of me when I try on hats. All hats. No exceptions. And I really love the idea of hats. But when I put one on my head he always responds by snickering. Always. It's infuriating and hilarious at the same time.
