Solomons paint out - Day Two

7:00 am
First, a link to this article in this week's Gazette about Clyde Unglesbee's legacy in the Olney/Brookeville community. (I wrote about him here.)

Yay! I have a showcase

Second, I have a showcase on Etsy today in the Art Painting section. Yay, me! Here is a link for you to click, and once you get there use the drop-down menu in the upper right corner to find "Art Painting."

Third, another gloomy overcast morning in Solomons, so I'm taking my time getting out the door. I gave my paintings a glaze of acrylic medium and then an overnight bask under the heat lamp in the guest bathroom to cure. Just sealing in all that first day goodness. I am going to try out one of the locations in town before lunch, maybe Back Creek Inn, although they have been advertising for people to come view the artists at work in their gardens between 10am and 2pm each day of the event. Makes me feel a little like a zoo exhibit. If I go over there I am going to make a sign to tape to my bag that says, "Please do not feed the artists."

2:00 pm
Back Creek Inn

Just getting ready to head back over the the Inn. It's beautiful there.

NOAA vessel R/V Bay Hydro II sails by

I went out on the dock just before lunch to see Robb sail by on the Bay Hydro II on their way in from Norfolk.

My painting setup on Friday

I have been posted under a tree all day which has prevented my paints from immediately drying out in the sun. And the sun comes and goes.

Work in progress

I have been painting another artist while she is painting. (Life imitating art imitating life?) She has been kind enough not to mind that I am painting her. Okay, back to the salt mines...

7:00 pm
Ducklings at Waterman's Watch

Damn that David Diaz! He held me hostage at Waterman's Watch and made me photograph ducklings with him for half an hour when we both should have been painting. (But they're SO adorable and fuzzy!)

Drum Point Light

I finished my painting of the Drum Point Light at the Calvert Marine Museum. I am aware that it's less plein air and more vintage travel poster. But I dig it.

Yacht club

And then I scouted around town for good places to paint. The yacht club is impressive but doesn't inspire me to pick up a paint brush. I think I am going to head back out for a while now to try my hand at painting the sunset. Wish me luck!
